Woodrow Constantine Mitchell

March 29, 1936 — July 27, 2020

Woodrow Constantine Mitchell was born in Trelawny, Jamaica on March 29, 1936. He is survived by his loving wife, Micaela, his son Jon, his daughter Michelle, and his grandchildren Krystle, Avery, and Nicholas.

Constantine was raised by his mother, Ena, together with the love and support of her mother and step-father, Julia and Herbert Hudson. They instilled in him a strong faith in God and a deep respect for education and hard work.

After completing study at a junior college, then known as West Indian Training College, in 1955, Constantine migrated to the United States. Like so many before him, he was determined to make a better life for himself and his family. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Washington Missionary College in 1960, a Masters in Pharmacology and a Medical Degree from Howard University in 1967.

Constantine joined the United States Navy in 1968, serving as a surgeon during the conflict in Vietnam.

In 1977, Constantine fulfilled his dream of opening his own medical practice, specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Although he had been working less and less for several years, he reluctantly retired in 2015.

Constantine’s bright smile, hearty laugh, unwavering faith in God and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
