Winifred Nelson

Winifred Nelson (also known as Winnie), 87, of Huntington Beach, California went to heaven peacefully, surrounded by lots of love and family on January 6, 2024.

She was born in Croatia (previously known as Yugoslavia) in May 1936 to George and Anka Vidovich. Winnie migrated to the United States from Croatia by way of Egypt with her family through Ellis Island as a child. She graduated from San Pedro, California High School and thereafter proudly became a United States citizen. Winnie was married to Rocky for whom she celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary with, in December 2023. Her hobbies included bowling, cooking, trips to Las Vegas and spending time with family and friends.

Winnie is survived by her husband Rocky; children: Rocky and Vikki; and grandchildren: Savannah Anka and Jacob Rocky. She considered her marriage, children, and grandchildren to be her biggest achievements. Winnie is also survived by her older sister, Lucretia (also known as Lou).

Winnie was loved and will be missed terribly by family and friends.

Funeral arrangements will be held at 11:30 a.m., January 22, 2024, at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
