William Edward King Jr.

Born, July 27, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York, the Rolling Hills Estates resident and long time St. John Fisher Parishioner passed away June 1, 2015. The World War II, U.S. Navy veteran served on the USS Springfield (1944-46) as a radar technician and completed an engineering degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Class of '49). William worked as an electrical engineer at various aerospace firms in Long Island, Seattle and finally retired from Hughes Aircraft (El Segundo) as a Support Systems Project Manager. William is survived by his two sons, Bill III (Emma) of Greenwich, CT, and Robert (Andrea) of Westchester, CA; six daughters, Dede King of Redondo Beach, CA, Tricia Kosmo (Fred) of San Diego, CA, Debbie Killman (Steve) of Manhattan Beach, CA, Mary Bechler (Jeff) of Princeton, NJ, Deirdre Neely of Pleasanton, CA and Eileen Gillis (Mark) of Greensboro, NC. He is also survived by brother, Robert King of Carle Place, NY, 19 grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews. He was a beloved father, uncle, and grandfather who will be greatly missed. William served his country in war, survived the Great Depression, and participated in the great economic expansion of the post war. The greatest generation has conquered everything but time. He lived a rich full life. A Celebration of his Life will be held on June 10, 2015, 10:30am at St. John Fisher's Church in Rancho Palos Verdes.
