William R. Jacoby born January 25, 1930 passed away peacefully October 23, 2021 at the age of 91. William graduated from San Pedro High School in 1948. William joined the United States Navy in 1948, where he went to school and became an Electricians Mate. William attained the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class which he remained until his honorable discharge in 1952.
William later worked for Hughes Aircraft as an Engineer where he worked at NASA in Cocoa Beach, Florida on the Surveyor Satellite Program that went to the moon prior to the Apollo Missions. In 1968 William moved his family to Buena Park, California where he continued his career at Hughes Aircraft supervising a department that produced wire wraps for the fire control systems in the cockpit of the Navy’s F-14 Tomcats. An outdoors guy, William enjoyed sailing, driving his convertible Austin Healey, hunting, fishing, motorcycles, and camping.
William is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gertrud A. Jacoby, son Brian Jacoby and daughter Martina MacDonald. He is also survived by his grandson Parker Jacoby, and granddaughter Riley Jacoby. William was also blessed with many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the interment site on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, Section Summit Lawn, Lot 623, Grave A.
