William John Ellingson

March 29, 1931 — August 16, 2023

William "Bill" John Ellingson, 92, born in McClusky, North Dakota, to his parents Marcus and May Ellingson, passed away peacefully. Bill was the second of four children, growing up in McClusky and briefly residing in Velva, ND.

Some of his most cherished memories were the summers spent at Strawberry Lake, where he camped in a small house with family, extended family, and dear friends nearby.

Bill's life took him to Seattle, where he attended Cleveland High School. He was an active member of a local church choir and even participated in his Senior School Play. Later, he joined the Navy as a Radarman, serving on the USS Marshall DD 676 during the Korean War.

In San Diego, fate brought him together with a young lady in the Air Force, Dorothy. They soon married and welcomed their first child, Margie. They eventually moved to Seattle, where Bill completed a three-year apprenticeship as a tool maker and welcomed their second child, Tom. After some years, family circumstances led them back to San Diego, where they had their third child, Marcus. In 1967, they settled in Torrance, California, as Bill secured a great job in the area.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus "Mike" and May Ellingson, his brother Robert Ellingson, and his daughter, Margie Ellingson (survived by John). He is survived by his sister, Echo (Kime) Ellingson, sister Paulette (Wanamaker) Ellingson, his loving wife, Dorothy Ellingson, son Tom Ellingson, son Marcus Ellingson (wife Gena), and four cherished grandchildren: Sean Hall, Tyler Ellingson, Sydney Ellingson, and Hailey Ellingson.

Bill's work on this Earth is now complete, and he has found a joyous reunion with cherished family and friends. He extends heartfelt gratitude to his loving family, especially his son Tom, who provided exceptional home care in his final years.

Bill leaves a lasting message that character and integrity matter. He lived his life with these values and encourages all to do the same. In his words, "Hang in there Murphy!"
