William "Bill" Bell

William "Bill" Bell, the son of Charles and Daisy Bradley Bell, was born on May 28, 1920 in Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire, England, and passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2014 in Paramount, California.

Bill was a loving husband and father and both a sailor and engineer. A veteran of both World War II and the Korean conflict, he served 19 years in the Royal Navy from the age of 16 years. His World War II service included nearly 3 years in H.M.S. Warspite during which time he was present at the Second Battle of Narvik, the Battle of Calabria, and several actions relating to the protection of Malta convoys. He subsequently spent some time in Coastal Forces in MGB312, and served aboard H.M.S. Gombroon in the Persian Gulf, Indian and Pacific Oceans.

After leaving the Royal Navy, Bill trained as an electrical (aerospace) engineer. He moved to the United States in 1959 and worked for many years with Lockheed Aircraft Co. in both Marietta, Georgia and Burbank, California. He retired from Lockheed in 1990.

Bill is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Joyce Bell of Cumming, Georgia; his daughter and son-in-law, Gillian and John Vogel of Porter Ranch, California; and his son Steven Bell of Long Beach, California.

Grandchildren: Margaret Sagarin, and husband Josh Sagarin, Darren Russell, Erin Bell, Michael Russell, Garrick Bell, Danika Bell and Jason Bell; and great grandchildren, Sam Sagarin and Ellalaine Sagarin.
