Wendell E. Larson, 91, of Palos Verdes Estates, CA passed away on August 17, 2014. He was born in Redondo Beach in 1923 to Wendell and Hazel Larson. He spent his childhood in Redondo Beach and moved to the Fairfax area in the 1930's. He attended Fairfax High School where he graduated in 1940. He was a P-38 pilot/instructor in the Army Air Corps. Wendell married Edith Doak in 1943. He was discharged in 1945 and attended UCLA School of Engineering. Wendell graduated with honors in 1949. He started working for Standard Oil of California at the Richmond Refinery. He eventually returned to the South Bay, where he lived in Manhattan Beach. He began working at the El Segundo Refinery in 1955. Wendell and Edie moved to the Hollywood Riviera in 1975 where they lived for 20 years. They moved to Palos Verdes Estates in 1975. Wen retired from Chevron as the Refinery Manager-Technical in 1982. Edie passed in 2001. Wendell was an avid golfer and wood waterfowl carver. He is survived by his son Chris (Mary), granddaughter Sarah and daughter Wendy.
