Retired Major Wayne A. Taylor
May 20, 1939 – March 1, 2016
Wayne Taylor passed away on March 1, 2016 at the age of 76, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 20, 1939 and was a long time resident of Rancho Palos Verdes where he raised three daughters with his wife of 43 years. Wayne's hobbies included motorcycles, golf and most of all, traveling with his wife, Patti.
Wayne is a veteran of the Vietnam War, and during his 23 years of distinguished service with the Army he earned several medals, including a Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars, a Meritorious Service Medal, a Joint Service Commendation Medal, a Purple Heart, a Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation and a Combat Infantry Badge. After retirement, with the rank of Major, Wayne then committed 17 years in the private sector, specializing in transportation for defense contractor TRW.
He is survived by his loving wife Patti; his daughters, Kim and her husband Mark, Stacey and her husband Michael, and Melissa and her husband Jordan; children Jeff and Michelle; 9 grandchildren, Matthew, Lyndsay, Spencer, Stephanie, Maya, Amanda, Sophia, Matt, and Tiffany; one great grandchild; his mother, Marge; and his siblings, Greg, Bonnie, and John.
