From a human seed given life on August 22, 1957 in Seattle, Washington, the sixty-five years lived on this earth were jam packed with life and memories! Wayne was born in Seattle, Washington loved by relatives there and at the age of two, he and his parents (who are from Hawaii), moved to Carson, California where the ground soil was rich in minerals and orange groves were plentiful. A thriving Los Angeles city in Southern California became home to Wayne up until his passing on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 8:30 pm. He is survived by his younger sister, Wendi (Nakatsu) Marsala(eight years younger), her husband and their three children his nephews. They got to know each other through photographs, telephone calls, mailed correspondence cards from Sis and a couple visits to Florida. There are Nakatsu relatives, Kurohara relatives, single and married extended families who knew and will miss Wayne.
His education consisted of Denker Elementary School, Peary Jr. High School, Gardena High School, El Camino College and CSULB Long Beach. Additional education institutions were IBM offsite computer classes, Judo Defense Classes, Aikido Martial Arts, and Taekwondo Martial Arts.
His hobbies included fresh water fishing, mountain skiing, hiking trails, biking, camping with friends, photography, outdoor adventures, target practice, tennis, bowling, amusement parks, music concerts, exciting Las Vegas, Nevada, and computer games. He worked at various places prior to his career job at Safeway Market since high school years and then at Cable Masters for twenty-seven years.
His favorite foods were Mexican, Asian and American cuisine. He liked Teriyaki plates, fast foods, pizzas and he enjoyed a good steak grilled with sides during summer barbeques. His comment was “Heck! I could enjoy steak anytime.” (smiles). In life’s journeys, paths may be nice to travel, some more narrow than others and some experiences are full like a balloon that brings you joy and some experiences are deflated that need some tender-loving-kindness, prayers and forgiveness like a gentle healing hug. Wayne believed there is a God who loves him in the universe and attended Gardena Valley Baptist Church during his high school years. Bro, I will miss you and will miss hearing you call me Sis. I’m glad I spoke on the phone and thanked you for all you did for me like folding my cloth diapers when I was a baby, for coming out to see Mom and Dad in 2005 and spending a week with us and Auntie Bernice too. From that visit we had Mom and Dad for another year to love on. My husband and I and our three children wrote heart-felt messages on a card and I placed in your vault. I spoke with you on Sunday and Monday and five days later I received a phone call that you had passed away. Upon writing and reading this sentence I somehow go into bliss numbed in disbelief you had passed away. I’m sending you virtual hugs, love, chaka bra and hang loose, family smiles and Christian prayers to you. We will miss you and love you, Bro!
