Wayne Alvin Lovelady

March 3, 1926 — February 2, 2013

Wayne Lovelady, a Torrance businessman and long time resident passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at his home in Torrance. Wayne was the 3rd child of 7 children born to Thomas Seigle Lovelady and Lena Ernestina (Schuchhardt) Lovelady. Wayne was born March 3, 1926 in Dupree, South Dakota. In 1928, at the age of 2 years, his parents left their farm in South Dakota and moved to Torrance. Wayne was a graduate of Torrance High School and served with the Army's 86th Division during World War II. After the war, Wayne became co-owner of Lovelady Hardware Company in Torrance and for many years worked side by side with his brother, Vern Thomas Lovelady who predeceased him in 1990. Wayne retired shortly thereafter and decided to spend more time fishing and enjoying his vacation home on the Colorado River in Bullhead. Wayne invited his many longtime friends to share his dream of cruising the Colorado River, fishing off his boat dock, or just enjoying the view of the Colorado River and mountains off his patio. When not at his home in Bullhead, you could always find him in the Golden Donut adjacent to his home chatting with his many friends, especially Letty and Julio and their 3 children, Julian, Javier and Miguel Martinez over breakfast and a cup of coffee. Wayne will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a loving brother and friend. He is survived by his sisters, Jean Lovelady Wren of Torrance and Ione Lovelady Harbick of Tustin and many nieces and nephews. Visitation is on Tuesday, February 19th, 2013 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the mortuary. Interment will be at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, Parkview Terrace Mausoleum at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. After services, friends and family are invited to gather at noon time at the Golden Donut in Torrance for a catered luncheon. In lieu of flowers, a tax deductible donation may be made to Wayne's favorite charities, Baja Dogs, Inc., 206 E.
