Wayne N. Kozai

Wayne N. Kozai, 63, of Las Vegas, Nevada, peacefully passed away at home on November 12, 2016. He was born in Gardena, California to Teruichi and Mabel Kozai who preceded him in death. He attended 186 Street School, Peary Junior High School, and Gardena High School. He graduated from California State University in Long Beach with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. After college, he moved to Las Vegas and worked for the U.S. Department of Energy for 33 years in various capacities where he retired as Director of Finance in February 2009. There, he received the Distinguished Service Award for outstanding professionalism, integrity and commitment to excellence toward their mission. In his earlier years, while a member of Scout Troup 725, he received the Sangha Award for Buddhist brotherhood.

Wayne was a polite gentleman with a great sense of humor, who enjoyed life. His favorite pastimes included bowling, golfing, watching the Oakland Raiders and NASCAR. He was also a wonderful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife Mirna of 22 years; daughter Edna Montanez; sister Joanne (Peter Kontos); brothers Glyn and Brian (Karrie) Kozai; sisters in law Isabel (Michael Maier), Mirian Aleman; nephews Ronald and Michael (Rowena) Kozai, Russell and Brandon Kontos, and Vicente Perez; nieces Sunshine and Ramona Perez; and grandchildren Diallo, Alyzet and Roman; as well as mother-in-law Maria Quinones; uncles Henry Kozai and Toshiaki (Tomi) Kozai; aunts Nobuko Bevins, Sally Kuriyama, and Yo Kitano; and many cousins. A private service will be held in California early December.

Wayne will be deeply missed by his "furry son" Caesar, and everyone who knew him.
