Wayne E. Franklin

December 20, 1920 — May 1, 2015

Wayne was born on December 20, 1920 in Shawnee, Oklahoma and passed peacefully in his sleep on May 1, 2015 in Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca. Wayne leaves behind his beloved wife of 67 years Esther, children John, Diana, and Robert (Susie) 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, and nephews. Capt. Franklin moved to California in 1941 and joined the Merchant Marine. He made many convoys across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans during WWII and witnessed the sinking of many ships as well as close calls to his vessel. He settled in San Pedro met and married Esther and worked for Red Stack Tugs, and in 1961 joined Jacobson Pilot Services in Long Beach, Ca. He retired in 1986. He enjoyed his retirement at home in RPV and traveling with Esther in their motor home participating in rallies with many friends and member of the Vogue/Prima Vista Motor Home club. Funeral service will be held at 11am at Green Hills Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, May 13th.
