Virginia B. Xifo
August 4, 1927 – July 20, 2022
Virginia Xifo passed away peacefully in her home on July 20, 2022 with family at her bedside. She was 94 years old.
Virginia was the youngest of 12 children born to Italian immigrants in Louisiana. When she was 16 years old, she moved to Southern California and, with the support of an older sister, attended Mount St. Mary’s College. She earned a degree in education and began teaching elementary school in the Los Angeles School District. In 1951 she married Ramon Poliquin and helped to put him through Medical School. They had two daughters, Celeste and Catherine. Then, after 16 years of marriage, she was widowed.
In 1973, Virginia married Salvatore Xifo, a widower and father of five children. They had a 40-year journey building their life together. With love and work, they created one large, tight knit family.
Virginia was a very loving and kind person. She valued family and her role as mother and believed deeply in living her Catholic faith.
She was predeceased by her husband and her daughter, Mary Margaret Xifo-Rankin (Greg). She leaves behind six children, Celeste Morningstar (Joe), Catherine Weir (John), George Xifo (Kristine), Peter Xifo, Gina Webber (John), and Michael Xifo; fourteen grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. She will always remain in our hearts.
Services will be held August 2nd, 2022 11:30am at Green Hills Memorial Chapel, 27501 S. Western Ave. Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
