Virginia (Ginny) Richards (1927-2021)
Virginia was born in Iowa and grew up in the Pacific Palisades. Her inner and outer beauty were legendary. She died two weeks after her beloved husband, George, which gives the family comfort knowing that they are now together forever. Virginia’s father worked with George’s mother in real estate, which is how they met. The marriage lasted for 72 years until their death. The last 65 years the couple lived in their home in Palos Verdes. Their favorite pastime was spending time at their place in Mammoth, where they enjoyed hiking and fishing with the family. They were a glamorous couple that enjoyed entertaining, parties and dancing.
Formerly a model; she was honored in 1948 as bride of the year in the Los Angeles Times Home Magazine. Virginia had fond memories of working with her mother at their dress shop in Pacific Palisades where they helped customers that included Clark Gable and Esther Williams. Also, Ginny had a career in real estate. Further, she found working at the L.A. County Museum of Art, attending art shows and collecting the work of selected artists rewarding. However, most important to her was being a dedicated mother and raising their four sons. The premature deaths of her two sons, Michael and Christopher left her devastated.
Virginia is survived by: Sons, Bart and Greg; daughter-in-law’s, Judith and Catherine. She cherished being a grandmother to Roxie Konis, Cameron Richards, Scott Richards, Alissa Flanagan, Aimee Richards and Kailee Kerrigan. Ginny was a great-grandmother to Alexis LaPorte, Bella Konis, Jax Konis, Lillie Richards, and MacKenna Flanagan. Virginia will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and love for her family and friends, which was mutual. She truly was a special person that will be dearly missed.
