Vince Aniello Mattera

Vince Aniello Mattera was born on May 30, 1936 and passed away peacefully July 1, 2011 surrounded by his wife, three children and eight grandchildren. While attending Mary Star of the Sea High School, he played on the very first football team. A true worker at heart, Vince started working at a very young age. In 1962 he married Angela Zardeneta and had three children: Susan, Vince Jr. and Renee. Vince's love for cooking motivated him to open a pizzeria shortly after starting his family. He had no knowledge of how to run a business but with hard work and determination, Sorrento's Italian Restaurant has been open for almost 50 years. A true jokester, Vince always knew how to lighten up a room. He had a true love for life, but most of all, his love for his family was eternal. Vince is survived by his wife of 49 years, Angie; children, Susan, Vince Jr. (Mariea) and Renee; brother, John (Amanda); grandchildren, Malissa, Sabrena, Nicolette, Natalie, Noelle, Matthew, Vanessa and Gennaro; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial service will be held Friday, July 8, 2011, 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church: 209 N. Hanford Ave., San Pedro. Interment to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.
