Velma Louise Mccard

October 13, 1939 — December 26, 2022

It is with a heavy heart that our family announces the untimely passing of our beloved matriarch Velma Louise McCard. She was taken from us very unexpectedly early Monday morning, December 26, 2022, at the age of 83. Velma was born in San Pedro, California on October 13, 1939 to Arthur and Lucille Patton as one of five children. She was raised in San Pedro and attended school there as well. She met the love of her life, Buzz, and they were wed on September 4, 1954. Buzz was in the Navy and Velma was with him wherever he was stationed. After Buzz served 4 years in the service he became a longshoreman where they settled into civilian life. More importantly, her life revolved around her family. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage and were blessed with 6 children whom they raised in Lomita, California. Buzz passed in 2012 and Velma was able to go on due to her faith and family. She is survived by her children; Cindy MacGilvray and husband Mike, Gary McCard (deceased), Scott McCard (deceased), Karen Negrinelli and husband Curt, Cheryl Munoz and husband Dave, and Todd McCard, and her 20 grandchildren; Malissa Messier, Deanna Johnson, Crystal Fields, Mike MacGilvray Jr., Scott McCard Jr., Tiffany Kislig, David Munoz Jr., Brett MacGilvray, Ashley Lopez, Kevin Negrinelli, Eric McCard, Vincent Munoz, Amber Binkley, Courtney Munoz, Adam McCard, Gary McCard, Kenny McCard, Autumn McCard, Robert McCard and Conner Negrinelli; in addition she had 24 great grandchildren; Madison, Slater, Stryder, Greyson, Parker, Charlotte, Wyatt, Juliette, Ashlynn, Zoey, Lexi, Caden, Harper, Hudson, Taylor, Scarlett, Brooklyn, Alexandra (deceased), Michael, Chris, Aden, Rylee, Mateo, Diamond and Legend.
