Van Hua Ho (1924 -2012) was a dreamer, patriot, author/teacher and lover of life. As the fifth of nine children, family was his pillar starting with his Dad and beloved Mom in Canton, China. Marriage with adoring wife, Marjorie, lasted 56 years until her passing in 2006. Their two children, Ann and Nelson, thrived, married and two grandchildren, Michelle and Brian, carry on the family line.

Van's achievements were many. America was already in his sight when he served as a translator in the U.S. Army medical tents on Burma Road in World War II. And aviation was his passion, leading to a degree from the University of Houston and a long career as an aeronautical engineer that coincided with the start of America's race to space. Dad retired after 23 years at The Aerospace Corporation.

To alleviate the stresses of daily living, Dad studied with masters of Tai Chi Chuan beginning when he was 22, authored a book in mid-life, and over the course of a decade, taught several hundred Los Angelenos how to enlighten their minds and strengthen their beings with this mindful exercise regimen.

He loved exploring and being in nature, travelling, playing bridge, eating and socializing. He was always ready to offer his counsel or share a story from the past. Dad built his first stereo system from components, and set up a photo lab just to learn what was involved in the process.

Van sought financial security, having a quiet love-filled home, and a meaningful life filled with interesting experiences and adventures. Most of all, he loved the thought of soaring among the clouds.

He leaves behind his older brother, Man Sau (Leon) Ho, daughter Ann, son Nelson, grandchildren Michelle and Brian, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews around the world.

Well Dad, you have now accomplished all your dreams. You live forever in our hearts. With all our love and affection, Ann & Rick Massei, Nelson, Yuhong (Jenny), Michelle and Brian Ho.
