Tommy to his friends, was a passionate man who worked hard to provide for his family and loved to celebrate life with his family and friends.
Thomas was born on November 9th, 1940 in Nairobi, Africa to Martin and Leonildes Sequeira. In 1959, he moved to Dar es Salaam, and met Gladys DeMello his first wife. They were married in August 1961. The following year they welcomed their first of three children, Sharon and then two years later, Jeanette and a year after Yolanda.
Thomas had a passion for cars and when they lived in Africa, he was the proud owner of the Eagle Engineering Workshop, which serviced the local automotive needs, and enjoyed his passion even more by getting paid for his services.
In 1972, with the growing unstable political climate in Tanzania; Thomas and Gladys moved their family to Hollywood, California in search of the American dream. They lived with Gladys’ sister, Branca; brother-in-law, Vincent; niece, Susan and nephew, Paul before they settled into beautiful Burbank, California. Thomas began his new career working for Ford. He worked in the Parts department and eventually became the Parts department manager. He was happy at his job, enjoyed his friends and all his perks.
Thomas, Gladys and their family enjoyed their lives in Burbank with the Goan community. They spent many weekends, holidays and camping trips having fun with the Andrade, Silvera, Eremita, DaCosta, Monteiro, Abreu, and Braganza families. Thomas and Gladys also loved traveling to exotic destinations, Italy, France, Hawaii and Alaska. They divorced in 1988.
In 1991, Thomas married Narcy and they moved to Carson, California. They had one daughter, Emma. Thomas enjoyed working for many years at South Bay Ford before he retired. Thomas had one parrot, two cats, and one dog that he loved and spoiled.
After retirement, he began his passion for gardening and volunteering. Thomas’ acquired passion for gardening had the most beautiful fruits and vegetables. In addition, he volunteered weekly at St. Philomena Church and developed meaningful bonds that impacted many.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Narcy, four daughters, four grandchildren and new great-granddaughter, Emily Mei Kurges:
-Sharon Kurges and her daughter, Ashley and son, Jeffrey; his wife, Mina and their daughter, Emily
-Jeanette Reville, her husband, Alan and their daughter, Siobhan
-Yolanda Wu, her husband, Alan and their son, Andrew
-Emma Sequeira and her husband, Salvador
Thomas is also survived by his sisters, Vivien Miranda, Olga Mascarenhas; his brother, David Sequeira and their families.
Thomas Sequeira was a hard worker, who loved spending time with family and friends. He was a man who was a loyal friend and always spoke his mind. We know he is now happy to be reunited with his parents, brother, Raphael, and several friends. He will be missed dearly and has left a special place in our family’s heart.
