Thi McKem passed away on April 24, 2013. Born in Borseith Cambodia on January 10, 1926 to Kem Dul (father) and Sin Yoeun (mother), he is survived by his wife So Tach. Thi earned his teaching degree at Phnom Penh University, taught school for a year then joined the military in 1950. Second Lt. Kem married So Tach in 1955. In 1975 General Kem Thi commissioned a C-5 cargo plane to save his family and several villagers from the Kamur Rouge. Thi moved his family to the United States that year and legally changed his name to Thi McKem in 1980. Thi McKem is survived by his wife Thach McKem; 6 children: Chea, Sotha Kem, Seda Tum, James Kem, Phil Kem and Romdoul Yahraus; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Service will be held at Green Hills Mortuary, Sunday April 28th at 27501 S. Western Ave. Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275.
