On Friday, January 29, 2021, our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother passed away at her daughter Toni’s home. Her passing was as she lived her life: quietly, and peacefully.
Theresa was born to parents Ross and Carrie Spencer in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii on October 20, 1931. She had two older brothers, Frank and Patrick and two younger sisters, Barbara and Carrie.
She attended Farrington High School where she lettered in volleyball. She and her husband, her one and only love, Andrew (Andy) Subingsubing were married in Honolulu on July 10, 1948.
In 1955, she, her husband, and their two eldest daughters moved to California where Andy worked as a Longshoreman and Theresa raised their six children. She lived in the Harbor area the whole time including San Pedro, Carson, and Harbor City.
She was the most loving, generous, and wonderful woman anyone could ever meet and all those who were blessed enough to get to know her, loved her.
Becoming a widow at the age of 46, Theresa lived her whole life for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and was the center of all family activities. She loved watching her family’s sporting events and was known and loved by all their teammates.
She also loved playing bingo. Her bingo friends loved her as well.
Theresa leaves behind 64 close family members, including her 6 children:
Theresa Horn, Tanya Monroe, Toni Noland, Tina Wynia, Andy Subingsubing Jr., and Tammy Hilgeman and their spouses.
She leaves 17 grandchildren and their spouses, 22 great-grandchildren and one spouse, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Hundreds of friends who knew and loved her will miss her too.
