Theresa Stipa

June 26, 1937 — November 28, 2022

It is with deep sadness that the family of Theresa Stipa announces her passing on November 28, 2022, at the age of 85. She was born on June 26, 1937 in Newark, NJ to Floyd and Lauretta Figarelli. She moved to San Pedro when she was 6 years old and attended Barton Hill Elementary School, Dana Jr. High and graduated from San Pedro High School in 1955.

Theresa married the love of her life, Geno Stipa in 1957. They have two children, Rick (Brenda) Stipa and Julie (Mike) Gravatte, and two grandchildren, Frank (Marina) Stipa and Kate (Ryan) Tussey.

Working hard throughout the years at Seaboard Motors, Hudson Ruggles in Ports O’ Call Village, Norman’s, and The Diamond Factory, family and friends were always Theresa’s main priority. She always made sure there was a homemade dinner on the table, even on the days she had to work late, and she loved being with family and friends. Sharing Sunday pasta dinners, holiday baking, knitting, and crocheting were her way of handing down her family values, traditions, and coveted recipes.

She was petite yet strong and resilient, fun-loving, adventurous, and loved to dance. She enjoyed family vacations, playing cards with friends, travelling, cruising, and many mini vacations to the casinos to play the slot machines and Deuces Wild video poker while Geno played at the poker tables.

Married for more than 65 years, Geno and Theresa lived a modest lifestyle yet filled their home with intangible riches of love and giving of their time and resources to provide the best for their family. Theresa was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who found immeasurable joy spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Throughout their life’s journey they enjoyed and maintained many long-lasting meaningful friendships that often blurred the lines between family and friends. We would like to thank our “27th St. families” for all the kind acts of love and support over the years.
