Theresa Chapman

August 23, 1955 — August 18, 2012

Once diagnosed with lung cancer in October of 2011, Theresa Greco Chapman never gave up. She never complained, maintaining a brave and cheerful outlook of an optimistic future – even through countless radiation and chemotherapy treatments, X-rays, hospitalizations and pain. She kept the severity of her illness private in order to protect her friends and family from worrying about her.

Her suffering ended and she died at home surrounded by her loved ones on August 18th.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 23, 1955 to Jack Greco and Theresa Snyder Greco. In the summer of 1972 her parents moved the entire family to Carson, California where they lived for a short time until her parents and younger children relocated to Phoenix, Arizona.

Theresa worked at the Kmart Apparel Warehouse for 29 years which is where she met her soul mate Paul Chapman who fell madly in love with her and the lovebirds were married on February 21, 1976. She gave birth to two children who adored her in 1982 and 1985. She spent her free time collecting and distributing clothing to less fortunate families and took numerous trips to the missions and surrounding poor neighborhoods in Tijuana, Mexico to distribute Christmas presents and clothing.

Filled with compassion and a love for people in all colors and sizes, Theresa made friends everywhere she went and managed to stay in contact with all of them for many years afterward. Although she passed before the blessing of becoming a grandmother, she cared about and treated many other children as her own and made an impact on hundreds of them throughout her life.

Before her last battle with cancer, she never missed a gathering of friends and family because she loved to socialize and was always the life of any party she attended.

Theresa is survived by her husband, Paul and her two children Paula and Brian as well as sisters: Frances, Lucy, Ann, Jackie, Joey, Mary and Gracie as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The Memorial Service for Theresa Greco Chapman will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29th at the Green Hills Memorial Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes with a burial and reception to follow.

Written by her daughter, Paula Chapman.
