Takashi Kobayashi was born on May 17, 1929 to his parents, Yutaka (Dad) and Matsuko (Mom) in San Mateo, California. Takashi had two sisters, Teri (Teruko) and Alice (Ayako). Takashi spent most of his youth life in San Mateo both before and after the War. During the War (1942-1945), his family was sent to the Topaz Internment camp in Delta, Utah.
After the War, they moved back to San Mateo and he graduated from San Mateo High School in 1948 and Junior College in 1950 with his focus studies on Engineering.
In 1951, Takashi joined the US Army and was stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas at the Artillery School Antiaircraft and Guided Missiles Branch. He was honorably discharged in January, 1953.
In early 1953, Takashi started his first job after service for United Airlines working as a store keeper. He worked there for one year until he got a offer to work for Japan Airlines (JAL).
In January 1954, Takashi accepted his JAL job offer and his career with JAL spanned over thirty years. During Takashi’s JAL career, he worked at both Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco International Airports where he helped set-up the Cargo Terminal office and warehousing facilities and managed the Cargo operations until he retired in 1985. Upon returning to Los Angeles in 1986, he consulted with JAL to set-up the in-flight catering operations for LAX called NICC (Nikko In-flight Catering Company).
On May 19, 1963, Takashi and Lily Kobayashi got married in Los Angeles, California. They did not have any children of their own but have always had a close relationship with the kids from their extended families of both Lily and Takashi.
Takashi enjoyed salt water fishing and golf as primary hobbies. He frequently took overnight boats to catch tuna with his good friends and family. He also loved to play golf on a weekly basis…
Lily and Takashi’s favorite hobby is to go out to lunch with close friends and family. Their social calendar was always full with lunch dates as they both loved to spend time with those closest to them…
