Susan Kendall

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend Susan Kendall left this earth to be with the Lord on Sunday October 6th. Susan was a lifelong resident of the South Bay and attended Arlington Elementary School, North Torrance High Scholl (Class of '76) and El Camino College. Susan's battle with cancer started in June 2011 and ended with her last breathe on October 6th. Susan's spirit, strength and faith has been an inspiration to all that knew her. Susan last worked for the Salvation Army's College of Officers Training in Palos Verdes Estates a position and place she loved dearly. Susan is survived by her loving husband Doug Kendall, son Brian Powers, daughter Kelly Powers-McGee (husband Chris), grandson Christopher McGee, brother Greg Smelser and mother Barbara Smelser. There will be a private graveside service for Susan at Green Hills Mortuary on Thursday October 24th; then a Celebration of Life Service at Nansen Field, 15 Hidden Valley Road Rolling Hills Estates from Noon until 4pm on Thursday October 24th. In lieu of flowers Susan requested that donations be made in her name to Vitas Hospice Foundation, 990 West 190th Street Torrance, CA 90502.
