Our beloved Susan, born on August 26, 1960, passed away in peace surrounded by her family on March 8, 2017 after battling a long illness. She was 56 years old. She was a devoted wife and the best mother one would ever have. She is survived by her loving husband, Gustavo Angelo, her children: Princess Aileen (Paul) Vickory, Melissa Joy Bernardino (John McFadden Jr.), Andrew Raspa, and Arlene "Sunshine" Villamil (Travis Goins) and her two children – Mikayla and Karter; her step-children: Greg (Crystal) Angelo and his two children – Madeleine and Aria, and Allegra Angelo; her in-laws: Delfina Angelo and Barbara Parnell; her former husband: Joel Raspa; her sister: Carmelita (Felix) Caro; her brothers: Roger (Lynn), Jun (Tess), Mar, Manny (Baby), Ronnie (Christine), and Al; her nephews and nieces: Paul, Keith, Grace (Ty) and her daughter – Ripley Ren, Ceazar Bix (Jane) and his children – Pie and Noah, Arvin and his children – Jayden, Eli, and Cali; Apryl and her sons – Caeleb and Aiden, Jeff, Jay, Anne (Ryan) and her children – Angelo, Angela, Angel, and JR, Monette (Darius) and her children: Jacob and Jayda, Vanessa (Mike) and her son – Myles, Veronica and her son – Cameron, Victoria, Josh, and Gabriel. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews both in the US and in Manila. Moreover, she leaves behind a tremendous network of good friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
Susan graduated high school from Namei Polytechnic Institute in Mandaluyong, Philippines and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Centro Escolar University in Manila, Philippines. For many years, she served as a Dialysis Charge Nurse at DaVita Medical Group in Inglewood, California. Her dedication to her career was immense and her passion for patient care was immeasurable. She was hard-working, thorough, and highly respected wherever she worked.
Susan possessed many notable attributes. She was beautiful and altruistic. She was incredibly thoughtful, loving, and generous. She championed for the less fortunate and helped so many people in her short life. She was resilient. She always approached challenges with determination and fought to succeed.
Susan will be remembered for her radiant smile, the joyous life she lived, especially with her children, her magnificent cakes, cupcakes, and baked goods, and her unbelievable strength, courage, and faith until the very end.
Susan's memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 18 at 12:00 noon at Saint Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 3846 Redondo Beach Blvd., Torrance CA 90504, followed by her urn interment at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90504. Reception to celebrate Susan's life will follow.
