Shui (Susie) Y. Lum, 96, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 in Lake Oswego, Oregon with loving family and friends by her side. She was born in 1928 in Kowloon, Hong Kong, to Wan Tse and Wong Ching Ha. She was united in marriage to Dick P. Lum in 1948 in Hong Kong. Her husband Dick is a U.S. Army veteran and passed away in 2010 at the age of 85. Susie will be interned next to her husband Dick at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
Susie is survived by her three sons, King Chi Lum, King Hung Lum and King Piu Lum, one daughter Kit Ling Luk, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Susie is also survived by three younger sisters, Shui Hing Li, Shui Hung Wai and Mable Ong.
Susie is a devoted Christian and a loving mother and grandmother. She cared deeply for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, is known to pray for them often. She was a skilled seamstress, talented in languages (learned English, Mandarin and Taiwanese on her own), and enjoyed mahjong, gardening and cooking.
Susie’s Celebration of Life will be held at 4:30pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the Chinese Faith Baptist Church, 1595 Greentree Rd, Lake Oswego, Oregon 97034. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Chinese Faith Baptist Church; or a donation to Louisville Chinese Christian Church, 6120 Lovers Lane, Louisville, KY 40291, her home church when she lived in Louisville, KY.
