Mrs. Shirley Ann Wiley, née Pouncey, daughter of the late John Pouncey and Mary Jane Pouncey, née Thompson, was born on May 30, 1950, in Torrance, California. She attended public schools in Long Beach, California, and graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School. She attended some college courses, and began her career in various areas of service, including being a flight attendant.
At an early age, Shirley accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior, and maintained her faith throughout all of her days. Shirley's faith was seen by any and all that she came across. Her faith and dedication helped bring others to the Lord.
Shirley was always a charismatic and friendly person. Her and the rest of the Pouncey girls had many friends at school, and in the community. They all favored in their facial features. If you knew one, you could recognize the others. Shirley would tell stories of her childhood days, learning how to sew, playing with her siblings, trips to Louisiana to visit family, and working with her parents down at the Pike in Long Beach, CA
She was united in holy matrimony to Larry Wiley on April 23, 1977. Their union was blessed with five children. Larry preceded her in death on April 5, 2006.
In 2007 and 2008, Shirley was blessed with two more children that brought a new burst of life, after the loss of Larry.
Shirley was a loving, giving, strong, and cheerful soul. She could speak to anyone, and build an instant rapport. Her character allowed her to engage easily with others, and aided in her chosen career in the aerospace industry. Through her dedicated years with TRW and Northrop Grumman, Shirley made so many connections. Anyone could see how sincere these connections were.
Shirley was very open and accepting. She became "momma" to so many of her children's friends. She let them have sleepovers, offered an ear, and allowed them to stay as long as needed. However, she made sure that they always told their parents where they were. Shirley was always so kind and supportive. Her dedication, love, and support of others remains unparalleled.
Shirley's beautiful spirit will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: LeNele Wiley, LaToya Wiley, LeMar Wiley, LeVele Wiley, LaNai Wiley, Michael Wiley, Robert Wiley, and LaTonya Williams; daughters-in-law: Asia Wiley and Daisy Wiley; eleven grandchildren; brothers, Johnnie Lee Pouncey and Ronald Pouncey Sr.; sister, Beverly Hayes; brothers-in-law, Raymond Watkins Sr. and Michael Frazier; sisters-in-law, Terrie Clark, Janine Pouncey, and Brenda Frazier; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; her very best friend forever, Cheryl Lee; and countless others that she has touched.
