Sharon Kathleen (Ferguson) Huffine, age 82, passed away peacefully in her home in Long Beach, CA on March 29, 2021, with her family by her side.
Sharon was born on May 8, 1938 in St. Paul, MN. She and her parents moved to San Pedro, CA in 1946. Sharon graduated from San Pedro High School in the summer of 1956. At the age of 24 (in 1962), she moved up north to San Francisco where she lived for a few years and had her first daughter, Julie. It wasn’t long before Sharon started missing her parents, so she decided to move back to San Pedro to be closer to them. No matter where she was, she always found her way back to San Pedro. In 1968, she had her second daughter, Diane, and two years later, had her youngest daughter, Jackie. Sharon worked most of her life as a Medical Transcriptionist and Historian, and was employed by Robert W. Hunt, M.D. for 30 of those years. In 1985 she moved to Long Beach. That same year, Sharon was invited to attend a local church by a good friend of hers. She felt such a connection to Ocean View Baptist Church and the wonderful people that attended. Ocean View quickly became her church and she absolutely loved attending.
Throughout her life, her family was her treasure. Sharon was such a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and looked forward to every family gathering and the opportunity she would have to hug on every one of us. Her love was unconditional, and she freely shared her heart with everyone she met.
Sharon’s love of Las Vegas was like no other! She traveled there many times throughout the years and loved to play her penny slots and bingo! She may not have hit the jackpot in Vegas, but she sure did with her love for life and all who were in it!
Sharon is survived by her three daughters, Julie Slater Mandac, Diane (Jeff) Crane, and Jackie (Jessie) Rivera. Between her daughters, Sharon had 12 grandchildren – Anthony (Madison) Slater, Christina (Robert) Mandac-Skiles, Raymond (Kim) Mandac, Nicole Spinosa, Michelle Mandac, Jessica Rivera, Justin (Delaney) Crane, Jason Rivera, Marisa Mandac, Jenny Rivera, Jace Crane, and Emma Crane, and 4 great-grandchildren – Mia, Dominic, Ophelia, and Weston. She was also blessed with 6 additional grandchildren from her sons-in-law - Benny (Christine) Mandac, Narciso Mandac, Maria (Ray) Mandac-Beasley, Richard Mandac, Jesus “Quito” Rivera, Nathan (Jennifer) Rivera, and 20 more beautiful great-grandchildren. Sharon would always proudly share with everyone, that this year she was going to be blessed with her 70th great-grandchild. Family was everything to her. She will sure be missed by so many.
Sharon was preceded in death by her loving parents, Clovis "Jack" and Ilo "Eve" Ferguson, and her son-in-law, Benancio "Jr." Mandac.
