Serafina Accetta Chambers was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 4, 1925. She was the youngest of the five children of Alessandro and Rosalia Accetta, longtime residents of San Pedro. During World War II she worked at Fort Mac Arthur. In 1946, she married her first husband, Edward August Loseman, in St. Louis, Missouri. They were the proud parents of four sons, Robert, Edward, Thomas, and David. Widowed in 1961, she remained in St. Louis to raise her four sons. In 1966, she returned to San Pedro and once again worked at Fort Mac Arthur. It was at the Fort where she met Roy Chambers, Career Army, who worked in the reserve activities office. Known by all as "Fe", she and Roy were married in 1971. They enjoyed living in San Pedro and spent happy times with family and friends. For health reasons they moved to Oxnard in 1975. There they met many new friends and were active in community projects. As Board Members for the Ed Hunt Rehabilitation Project, they were instrumental in having ramps built over the beach area to provide ocean access for the disabled. In 1977, they had the opportunity to move to Perth, Australia. They returned to Oxnard in 1979. Throughout the years, Fe has always been proud of her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Her loving concern for each of them was the center of her life. She is the favorite Aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Things were never dull when Fe was around. She could turn any event into the best of times. Her humor and positive attitude, even during times of sorrow, were gifts she shared with all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her husband Roy, her four sons and their families, and all the extended family and friends that have had the honor to know her. We know we will see her again, but until then, our memories will keep her alive in our hearts forever.
