Sarah "Betty" Steese

Sarah E. "Betty" Steese, (nee Leeper), was born June 21, 1919 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Her father, Otis passed away and she and her Mother, Maudie, moved to Santa Monica, California. Betty married Frederick R. Steese on June 22, 1951 in Santa Monica, CA then moved to Manhattan Beach and ultimately Redondo Beach. Betty worked for many years in the Aerospace Industry while managing to raise her two surviving sons, Frederick A. and Michael...with the kind help of her Mother, Maudie. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher and Jennifer.

Betty was very active, both in Redondo Beach (South Bay Hospital Volunteers) and her home in San Jacinto, CA, where she retired. (Hemet Valley Hospital Volunteers). Never a dull moment, Betty was always ready for short road trips with her friends to experience and see new things. Cirque du Soleil, with her colleague Linda and margarita night at the Red Onion, Fridays, with her longtime friend Sandra are ones to be remembered. Mom was always right there when a friend or family needed help-with anything. Her heart was as big as they come. Always a smile, never, well, seldom, a sour note. She is now with the Lord and her Mother...Rest In Peace. You are and will always be sorely missed.

In later years she developed Osteoporosis and Alzheimer's disease, which, after a fall, left her unable to walk, with the added frustration of becoming less and less in control. Betty passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her beloved cats, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make donation to the Alzheimer's Association so this condition may be better understood and it's devastating effects on all those touched may be lessened.
