Sakaye Kawaminami of Gardena passed away peacefully at home on March 15 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was 93.
Sakaye was predeceased by her husband Jim Kawaminami in 2006. She is survived by her sister Miyuki Kojo, daughters Janice Kawaminami (Ed Zoerner), Donna Kumamoto and Lynne Kawaminami, grandchildren Danielle Lippen, Amanda Kumamoto and Cameron Kumamoto and great grandchildren Kaitlyn Lippen and Landen Lippen.
Sakaye, or as her friends called her “Saki” had a great life. After retiring from Northrup Gruman as a key punch operator, she enjoyed bowling, bingo, trips to Las Vegas and making crafts.
