Safa Hatami was 88 years old when she passed in the arms of her son, Majid, and her two grandsons Amir and Ali on February 6th of 2021 at Providence San Pedro Hospital in Los Angeles.
Safa was born in Tehran, Iran, and was raised by her mother as a single parent. Her mother was an educated nurse and placed great emphasis on the education of her only daughter Safa, and later, on her only grandchild, Majid. Safa graduated from a Teacher Training college in Tehran, and started her career as a teacher initially in Southern Tehran for disadvantaged children and several years later in Northern Tehran for both government run and private schools.
Her life can be characterized by unconditional love toward her friends and family including her only child, Majid and her two grandsons, as well as her life-long dedication and love as a teacher for children from both disadvantaged and privileged schools in Tehran. Her dedication to teach love and kindness extended to her two grandchildren who were born in the US and raised in her arms.
She was buried in Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, and we are hoping to gather a memorial on her one year of passing in her hometown in Tehran to be attended by her old students and family members.
