Ryan "Rocky" Luis Rubio passed away on June 13, 2017, at the age of 54, in Tarzana, California. He was born on August 25, 1962, in Harbor City, California, and was raised in San Pedro and Carson, until moving with his family as a teenager to Danville, in the Northern California East Bay Area. He graduated from Monte Vista High School, then attended Diablo Valley College. He was a resident of San Francisco for many years, working in the fashion industry, in independent filmmaking (his true passion), and finally with food, selling organic produce and cooking. In 1999, he returned to Southern California, where he lived for over 30 years combining childhood and his adult life until his passing. In Los Angeles, he continued working as a chef, cooking for many different rehabilitation centers, and also obtained certification in addiction counseling from Glendale Community College. Over the years, he helped many people in their journey to recovery. He is survived by his parents, Rudy and Rebecca Rubio, his sisters, Rhonda Rubio-Ponce and Raquel Rubio, his brother-in-law, Rick Ponce, his nieces, Rachelle Gould (Mark), Andrea Harviston (Jasen), and Kelley Unruh, his nephew, Roman Rubio, 5 great nephews and 1 great niece. "Uncle Rocky" will be joining in Heaven his recently departed nephew, Cole Unruh, who died at 21 in an auto accident last year. Services will be held for Ryan/"Rocky" on June 22, 2017, at 2:00 pm at Green Hills Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 27501 S. Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275.
