Ryan Allen Gagajena

Ryan Gagajena was born on January 17, 1972, in Manila, Philippines, to his proud and loving parents, Epifanio Gagajena, Jr. and Arceli Gagajena. His sister Aileen was born soon afterwards followed by his brother PJ. In 1981, at the age of 9, Ryan immigrated with his family to the United States and settled in Torrance, California. Ryan was an exceptional dancer, especially in breakdancing, and his friendly personality made him very popular. Ryan was a star athlete and he excelled in both basketball and cross country at Bishop Montgomery High School.
Ryan attended the University of California, Riverside and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science. While in college, his involvement in the Filipino student group, Katipunan, and Pilipino Cultural Nights showcased his deep appreciation and advocacy for Filipino arts, culture, and history. Post-graduation, Ryan became a professor at Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines, his father's alma mater, to pioneer the institution's inaugural environmental sciences program. Upon his return to the U.S., he worked at the University of Southern California's Environmental Health and Safety Department. Subsequently, he founded the digital marketing company, My Web Design Source, to support small businesses prosper and thrive for more than two decades.
In 1998, Ryan met online the love of his life, Mahalia Maranan. Their eventual marriage would lead to the joyous arrivals of Russell (RJ) in 2004 and Celeste in 2007. Ryan enjoyed organizing outdoor adventures such as camping and fishing with his family and friends. A fervent sports enthusiast, Ryan's heart belonged to the Los Angeles Lakers and USC Football. He found joy in comedy bars, concerts, movies, BBQ’s, seafood feasts, and his dogs.
Ryan's exuberance and zest for life set the stage for unforgettable gatherings, making him the heart of any celebration. His genuine interest in every individual he encountered, coupled with his unwavering faith, boundless humor, and playful spirit, made him a beacon of positivity and a role model to all who knew him. Ryan's love for his family and friends, and even strangers, knew no bounds, leaving an indelible mark on each of our lives. He will be deeply and profoundly missed.
