Ruth R. Miller

December 7, 1922 — July 1, 2012

Ruth provided a loving and nurturing home for her husband Ray and their children John and Jennie. She assisted in her children's activities and joined Ray every year in volunteering at the Peninsula Y's Men Christmas tree lot to raise funds for YMCA programs. Many friendships were made there. She remained supportive of her family as her children reached adulthood, and proudly attended the college graduations of each as well as John's graduation from law school. She developed a close relationship with John's wife Mary and enjoyed going out with the two of them after Ray passed away, often including her good friend Jackie Brunskill. In addition to her devotion to Ray, John and Jennie, Ruth was very fond of Jennie's husband, Dennis. She was a loving Grandmother to Jennie and Dennis' four sons, her grandsons, always generously giving of her time and talents. She made several trips to Wisconsin to visit them as they were growing up. They remember her fun-loving nature from their childhood. As adults they have admired her unwavering strength, and her willingness to encourage them in their interests. Raised Baptist, Ruth was rather private about her faith, yet she lived her life by the truths contained in scripture. Ruth spent years sailing with Ray, John and Jennie- including many trips to Catalina Island, and a family trip to Ensenada, Mexico. She was a talented seamstress, sewing clothes for herself and other family members, and much of Jennie's childhood wardrobe. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and needlework. She was an avid reader and a committed crossword puzzle solver, and could often be seen with her current paperback and the daily crossword in hand. Ruth was proceded in death by her husband, Raymond Stanley Miller and brother, John Spencer Reno III. She is survived by her son John Raymond (Mary) Miller daughter, Jennie Elizabeth Miller (Dennis) Strutz, grandchildren; Jason Edward Strutz, TImothy Raymond Strutz, Adam Tyler Strutz and Shannon Christopher Strutz
