Ruth "Chris" Maier

Ruth Christine Maier was born on August 6, 1949, in the San Francisco Bay Area to John and Ruth Cox where her father was in the US Coast Guard. As a young girl, Chris lived in Mountain View, CA, Miami, FL, and Savannah, GA, moving back to California and graduating from Los Altos High School. She attended UCLA while majoring in music, where she met her future husband Jim Maier. Jim and Chris were married on June 24, 1972 in Mountain View, CA, and lived in Torrance, CA, for several years, then moved to Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA. Jim and Chris were faithful church servants at both Rolling Hills Covenant Church and Peninsula Community Church. Jim Maier passed away on July 22, 2013, and Chris was called Home suddenly on July 17, 2020. Chris Maier is survived by her children, Tim and Erin Maier, Brian and Sarah Tenace, 7 grandchildren, and her brother and sister, Glenn Cox and Claudia Welton. Chris was our family’s prayer warrior and much of her praying over the years was done on her knees in her walk-in bedroom closet. It is a special comfort to us to know that in her prayer closet was where she left this life of pain and fell into the arms of Jesus.
