With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ruth Kordich, who peacefully left this world on January 25, 2025, in the San Pedro home she cherished for over 65 years. Born on February 9, 1932, in Van Houten, New Mexico to Velo and Helen Chagenovich, Ruth’s life was a beautiful testament to love, family, and fun.
She married the love of her life Tony in 1952, and together they built a home filled with warmth and laughter. Ruth is survived by their children: Toni (Rod) Moyer, Sheila (Lenko) Gracin, Mike (Sherry) Kordich, Debbie (Michael) Yoklavich, and Gary Kordich; as well as her grandchildren: Niko (Fonz) Gracin, Jessica Kordich, Anthony Gracin, Kory Kordich, Roderick Moyer, and Matthew Yoklavich. She also leaves behind her beloved sisters Rose Taylor, Barbara (Blake) Barton, Nancy Poduje, and Dorothy Chagenovich, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony and siblings Olga Messinger, Mary Chagenovich, Liz Vidovich, and Al Chagnovich.
Ruth’s greatest joy was spending time with family—welcoming everyone with love, laughter, and kindness. She treasured visits from her children and grandchildren and never turned down her morning coffee, a good meal, or a trip to Las Vegas.
Her warmth, love, and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Green Hills on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 4 PM to 7 PM. Services will take place on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 9 AM at the Green Hills Chapel, with a graveside service immediately following. A reception will be held at 11 AM at Michael’s Tuscany Room, 470 W. 7th St., San Pedro, California.
