Ruth Henley

Ruth Henley (Clark) , age 100, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at her home in Palos Verdes, California.

She was born October 23, 1922 in Clarksville, Arkansas to John E. Clark and Arra V. Frailey Clark . She was the second oldest of 7 children. She was married to J. L. Henley until his passing in 1999. They had two daughters , Joan Pitts and Jeraldine Walker . She was a Grandmother of 5 grandchildren , a great grandmother of 9 and a great great grandmother of 19 children .

Ruth and her husband J.L. moved to California in the early 1940’s were they settled in Lomita, California and raised their two daughters.

While her daughters attended junior high school, Ruth returned to school and earned her Masters Degree . In 1956, she began a career in teaching for the Torrance School District where she taught until she retired in 1985 . For the last seventeen years of her career, she was a specialist in Reading and ESL English as a Second Language .

Ruth accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at 14 years of age . While raising her daughters, she also taught Sunday School at the church they attended in Lomita, California.

In 1990 Ruth an J.L began attending Rolling Hills Covenant Church. A few years latter she became a member . After the passing of her husband J.L , she joined the Voyagers Group at RHCC and also joined Community Bible Study (CBS). She eventually became a leader in CBS for almost 20 years .

Ruth will forever be remembered in our prayers and in our hearts as we continue this journey without her .
Ruths’ memorial service will be Tuesday, January 31st at 3:00 PM at Rolling Hills Covenant Church / North Campus ( 2221 Palos Verdes Drive North , Rolling Hills Estates, California 90274 )
