Rosamena Asercion Javier
October 2, 1938 - December 19, 2018
"Rosie" was born Rosamena Asercion in General Trias, Cavite, Philippines on October 2, 1938. She was the second child, but first daughter, to the late Liborio Asercion and Filomena Romen Asercion.
In 1960 she married the late John P. Javier, who at the time was a sailor in the US Navy. Shortly after, they gave birth to their eldest daughter, Rosarina. Upon return from deployment John brought Rosie and their daughter to the United States in 1961.
Together John and Rosie lived the military life. They moved from naval base to naval base, from Okinawa to California and many places in between. Along the way they had three more children Jessie, Johnny and Juli. Rosie was the matriarch in a very close family, both working and raising her children while John was away at sea.
In 1973 Rosie drove cross country from the east coast to the west coast with her four children to a temporary home in Wilmington, CA before settling into her forever home in Carson where she passed away on December 19, 2018.
She now has six grandchildren Justina, Jessica, Jae, Jenae, Zoe and Jalyn, one great granddaughter Justelle and counting.
Rosamena was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and mother-in-law. She was a second mom, aunt and friend to many who knew her.
She will be dearly missed.
