Roger Glumace, 98, passed away on August 13,2023 in Chatsworth, CA. Born at home on May 31,1925 in Inglewood,CA to his immigrant parents Anton Glumace, from Lostavo, Croatia and Leocadie Glumace(Berducou), from Bruges, France. Anton passed at the age of 102 and Leocadie at 103, respectively.
Preceding Roger's passing was his wife of 63 years Patricia Glumace who passed on November 21, 2019; and his Brother Eugene who passed on December 7, 1996.
Roger is survived by his three daughters; Tamara Clements, Margene Mangabat and Kari McPhearson; five grandchildren Marc, Brian, Natalie, Arielle, and Taylor; two great granddaughters, Zuzia, and Allison; and several nieces, and other relatives.
Roger graduated from San Pedro High School in 1943. He was recognized as an avid sportsman competing in track events and tennis winning awards for hurdling while holding the City's winning record for decades to follow. After graduating he joined the Navy during WWll where he was trained and test flew the first designed jets. After receiving an Honorable discharge he attended USC where he earned a bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Roger's career life involved designing and training as a General Contract Engineer. Most notable of which would be when he worked on the first nuclear-powered satelitte. After retirement his pastimes include traveling, bowling, golfing, playing bridge, watching pro sports, reading several books a week, gambling on horse races(he saw the real Seabiscuit as a child), and enjoying his daily 4 o'clock martini.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 12:30 at Green Hills Mortuary; 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes 90275
