Roberta “Bobbie” Seymour of Sherman Oaks, California passed away peacefully September 5, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was 80. Bobbie served for more than 30 years as a registered nurse in the greater Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley areas. She spent most of her career in the ICU, where her passion was caring for the most critically ill patients. Her excellence in nursing, along with her compassion, made a deep and lasting impact on those she worked with and cared for.
Bobbie was born in 1937 in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn, New York City. She would often relay stories of her childhood that were rich with interesting characters and historical details that would bring her listeners back to the semi-rural Brooklyn of her youth. She attended both New York University (where she received her B.S. in Nursing) and DePaul University. Ultimately her career path took her from East to West, and she took up residence in Los Angeles, California in the late 1960s, and in Northridge, California shortly thereafter.
After her many years in nursing, Bobbie retired to Sherman Oaks, California and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, whom she loved beyond measure. Warm, wise and witty, she was loved deeply in return. In her later years, she delighted in her two grandchildren, who gave her infinite joy. She was a devoted grandma (“bubbie"), mom and friend. She also loved traveling, especially to Italy and Hawaii, swimming, pilates, and cooking delicious meals to share with her loved ones. She will be greatly missed.
Bobbie is survived by her two daughters, Pier (Seymour) Harvey and Anissa Seymour; her son-in-law Francis A. Harvey III; Steven Leff; and two grandchildren, Tate and Kaia. A private ceremony for family members will be held on September 15. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Roberta Seymour to
