Robert K. E. Weebe, age 78, died on Sunday, February 24, 2013 in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
Born in 1934 in New York, he lived in the South Bay of Southern California. He graduated from UCLA with a BS in Chemistry and a love for science and technology. He worked for Hughes Aircraft and also the Aerospace Corporation, with his main contribution to Global Positioning Satellite Systems. Robert had many hobbies. In his younger years, he was a lifeguard, competitive swimmer, and water polo player lettering 6 times at UCLA. He was a concert pianist, with a love for classical music such as Chopin. He was also a competitive marksman and Olympic hopeful winning many awards. He trained as a private pilot and loved flying. He loved photography and contributed his time coaching kids in badminton, baseball and swimming. Robert was a Lutheran Christian.
Survivors include his son Robert, daughter Carolyn, and his grandchildren, Hailey, Stephan, Hayden and Allan. Also sisters Peggy, Doris, Stephanie, and Bunny. Robert was preceded in death by his brothers Tom and John, and parents Kurt and Maria.
Services will be held at 1PM, Friday March 8, 2013 at Green Hills Memorial Park & Cemetery at 27501 South Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA with a viewing available 1/2 hour prior. Burial will follow immediately after memorial services. Relatives and friends are welcome at 3:15PM following the burial for gathering and fellowship at the Weebe Residence 29433 Stonecrest Road, Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca.
