Robert Vaca, the son of Roberto Vaca and Gertrudis Calva (Vaca), passed away on December 18, 2013 at the age of 85. He was born on January 25, 1928 in Calexico, California and had been a long time resident of Torrance, California. Robert serviced in the United States Navy and fought in WWII. On July 26, 1950 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and fought in the Korean War. After getting out of the Marine Corps he worked at TRW as a Test Engineer for 28 years. For 5 years Robert and his wife, Lorraine Vaca (also a former Marine) volunteered for Burial Honor Detail to honor former Marines who have passed away and were being buried at Riverside National Cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife Lorraine Marie Vaca, his children Debra Vaca, Robert (Patricia) Vaca, Mary (Ed) Martinez, Roseanne (Lou) Villalobos, and Shawn (Erica) Vaca, 8 beautiful granddaughters and his brothers, Anival and Ramon Vaca. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27th from 9am – 12pm at Green Hills Mortuary followed by a Memorial Service at 1pm in the Green Hills Mortuary Chapel with a burial site service to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
