Bob Ruesch was born in Evanston Ill on August 27th, 1927. His parents were Carl and Virginia Ruesch. He grew up on the family farm in Niles. The farm was first cleared by his grandfather William Ruesch at the turn of the century who came to the US from Germany.
Bob was drafted into the military in 1945 and served in the Army Air Corps in Alaska. He was discharged in 1946 honorably and returned to the farm. In 1951 he met the love of his life Rose Wilwers and was married shortly after. He decided to follow his father and mother who has sold the farm and take his family including first son Bob Jr born in 1953 to California.
Bob found a job with the City of Inglewood and worked there in the Public Works for a career until he retired in the early 1990's. In 1958 he and Rose celebrated the birth of his second son Daniel. They bought a home in
Inglewood and lived there until 1972 when they moved to Redondo Beach for retirement.
Bob and Rose traveled all over the US and especially enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas with Rose and her 3 sisters and they spent many weekends at the casinos. Rose passed in 2001 after 50 years of marriage. Bob's son Bob Jr has a wife Debbie and the grandchildren Kate and Andrew. Bob's other son Dan has a daughter Nicole. After a couple of years Bob was blessed to find a great friend and companion in Margo Schneider. Together they spent the next 12 years going on short trips and doing many community activities including bowling, bingo, and delivering meals on wheels.
