Robert George Fresenius

Robert was born in Torrance, California, to George and Vivian Fresenius. He had one younger brother, Dennis, who preceded him in death. Bob was married to Joy Chandler, his wife and soul mate, for almost 64 years until his death. Together they had 4 children, Deborah McKie, Michael, David, and Stephen. Bob and Joy were blessed with 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Bob went to Narbonne High School and after graduating, he attended Harbor College where he was later inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. He then went to Cal State LA where he received his Master's Degree in education while playing basketball for The Diablos. Bob served in the Army from 1955-1957. He began his teaching career with the Long Beach School District in 1957 and retired in 1993. Bob spent his retirement years spending time with his family; going on cruises and antiquing trips with his wife, trips with his family, going to his grandchildren's sporting events, spending time with his church friends, and was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to please send your donations to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1292 W. Santa Cruz St., San Pedro, CA., 90732, where his mass will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at 10:00am.
