Richard Sylvester, a resident of PVP, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013. He was born November 22, 1927 in Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, daughter, Carolyn, grandchildren, Sarah, Steven, Brian, and Eric, and his son-in-law, Michael Gould. He enjoyed a 56 year marriage to his loving wife Shirley Sylvester. He is preceded in death by his older daughter, Lynn on July 27, 1980. He was a World War 2 Veteran serving in Okinawa. Dick was a graduate of Westminster College in PA with a BA in Education. He obtained a Masters in Administration from USC. He was a teacher and administrator in the Torrance Unified School District for many years. Having been a football captain, he was a great sports enthusiast, loving tennis and golf. He was of course a big USC football fan. He loved his family and chocolate ice cream! He was very social and an all around good guy. He enjoyed parties but when it was time to go he could always be heard saying to his wife "Shirley, you about ready to go?" Because of his great sense of humor, he kept many people entertained. He will be sorely missed. There will be a burial at sea and a celebration of his life at his home on May 19th at 3PM,
