Richard Jervis Hicks

Richard Jervis Hicks, 85, departed this life on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 in a local area hospital. Richard was born December 6, 1933 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Richard was the eldest of six children born to the union of the late Reverend Edward Lee and Mrs. Katie D. Hicks. Richard accepted Christ at an early age. He received his formal education in the state of Tennessee. After completing his formal education, Richard joined the United States Marine Corps and eventually received an honorable discharge. Richard was united in matrimony to Elexzine Hicks and to their union five children were born; two boys and three girls. His wife and one son preceded him in death.

Richard moved his family to Los Angeles, California in 1965 where he became employed by Douglas Aircraft/Boeing for 45 years. He would eventually retire at age 76 and move his mother into his home in Carson, California to care for her until she passed at the age of 97. Richard worked hard throughout his life to make sure that his family was well taken care of.

Richard leaves to mourn his memories four children: Anthony Hicks, Kimberly Boker, Monica and Vanessa Hicks; three brothers: Edward Lee Hicks II (Mary), David Hicks, Franklin Hicks (Peggy), and one sister Robbie J. Sanderfur (Leon) as well as ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
