Richard Joseph Corian, 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in San Pedro on June 1, 2014. Richard was born in Walsen, Colorado. He moved to San Pedro after joining the Navy during World War II. After the war, he attended the University of Southern California, receiving his BS and Masters in accounting and earning his high school teaching credential. While attending USC, he married the love of his, life Lois, Tracey from San Pedro. Richard worked for LAUSD for over 45 years as a high school business teacher, counselor, athletic director and district administrator. After his retirement, he was an active volunteer at San Pedro Peninsula Hospital, the Better Breathers and the Los Angeles Maritime Museum. Throughout his life, he was active with the San Pedro United Methodist Church.
Richard was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Lois and their son Richard W. Corian and sisters Josephine (Corian) Missoni and Betty (Corian) Cartwright. He is survived by his daughter, Martha and her husband Stuart Salot. Richard was loved by his friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 5 at 1:00 PM at Green Hills Memorial Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes. Interment will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Providence TrinityCare Hospice.
