He served as the President of First Born Chapel Bible School in North Torrance, and he also served on the faculty of New Hope Bible College of New Hope Christian Center in Lomita.
He was a truly gifted teacher of God’s Word. Reuben especially had a great love for the study of Bible Prophecy and the End Times.
One of the ways Reuben expressed his love for God was through music. He was a talented musician who played the trumpet, guitar, violin, and other stringed instruments. He was also known for belting out a favorite hymn.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Melecio and Vicenta (Chacon) Fillon.
Reuben is survived by his beloved wife, Rose, of 51 years; his devoted three children, Paul (Deanna), Lisa (Rob), and Melissa (Richard); his loving eleven grandchildren, Shareen (Blake), Sammy (Jessica), Sharif (Danielle), Sarah (Eddie), Elizabeth, Miles, Joseph, Elle, Jeremiah, Bryce, and Elijah; his five adored great-grandchildren, Jada, Zola, Kairi, Sharif Jr., and Corbin; his four cherished siblings, Sam (Susan), Raquel (Ron), Priscilla (Claro), and Ben (Vivian); and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children.
Whether you are a new friend to Reuben or a life-long one, you remember that he spoke with kindness and friendliness, making you feel welcomed and loved. He had the gift of humor that would often put people at ease with smiles and laughter. His love for blessing others has taught us how the Lord loves to bless us.
