Reggine Kun Wha Kim is our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother who passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, at the age of 95 years old. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on January 27, 1929 and grew up in the Kaimuki area. She is survived by her four children, son Derek, and daughters Dayna (Robert) Arii, Delcy (Ed) Lum and Dale (Barry) Deguchi. Her loving grandchildren are Mindi (Loren) Tengan, Megan and Matthew Deguchi, Kristi (Sutee) Nudtavuthtisit, Kelli and Kayli Arii. Her great grandchildren are Hudson and Kaiden Tengan.
She attended school at Alliiolani Elementary, Robert Louis Stevenson Jr High and President Theodore Roosevelt High school - all in Hawaii. In 1952, she moved to Los Angeles, California, with her family for work opportunities. In 1953, she met her future husband, Young Soon Kim who was also from Hawaii and married in 1954. They were married for 53 years until his death in 2007.
She worked at Pacific Mutual, Union Bank, and retired in 1987 from Nissan Motor Corporation after working in administration for 15 years.
In retirement, Reggine enjoyed spending time with her husband, dining out, traveling to Las Vegas, and shopping for her loved ones. She was devoted to caring for her grandchildren with Dad and loved to host regular family gatherings.
Reggine had great faith. She remembers as a young child attending a Methodist church in Hawaii. She attended Cerritos Baptist Church and Catalyst Christian Community in California for decades, studied Bible Study Fellowship for many years and believes in the Lord Jesus Christ and is known by Him. She can now rest peacefully in heaven and is reunited with her husband.
Her angelic and sweet presence and beautiful spirit will be dearly missed. A private service will be held with the family.
